Wisdom teeth are the only molars that develop after the rest of the adult teeth have already surfaced. However, many patients wonder why we have wisdom teeth. Well, it is believed that wisdom teeth were helpful for our ancestors who had the habit of eating raw meats, vegetables, and roots. Over time, the types of food we eat have changed, so they are no longer necessary.

Often, a wisdom tooth becomes problematic due to lack of space in the jaw-line and most of the dentists suggests wisdom teeth removal in Australia to prevent problems later on or even if no symptoms are occurring. Delaying wisdom teeth removal could lead to several dental issues. First of all, it is necessary to know the warning signs of a troublesome wisdom tooth so that you can pull them out before it gets worse.

What are the signs and symptoms of wisdom teeth?

When your wisdom teeth develop, it is usually accompanied by some discomfort. There are some reasons that would make it necessary to have your wisdom teeth extracted. Here are some of the signs and symptoms that can be problematic until the tooth is extracted.

Pain and infection

One of the most noticeable signs that you need to pull a wisdom tooth is the pain and irritation at the tooth site and when you open your mouth. As there is not enough space in the jaw to accommodate a wisdom tooth, instead of coming in straight they come in sideways, titled or misaligned in the jaw that significantly impacts the nearby teeth.

An impacted tooth may be painless, and when they try to erupt, the overlying gum may swell and cause pain. The pain may subside after a week but, it can increase when it is left untreated.

Moreover, a partially erupted tooth can collect food, plaque and other debris which can lead to gum disease and tooth decay. So, never ignore wisdom teeth due to the wisdom teeth removal cost in Sydney.

Swollen gums and stiffness in the jaw

When wisdom teeth come in, they push against the other teeth, making them shift. As a result, it causes discomfort in your jaw so you could feel the stiffness in your jaw and find it difficult to open. This can also cause swelling.

Cysts and cavities

When an impacted wisdom tooth is ignored, they can lead to the formation of cysts which is a sac of fluid that gets accumulated and infects the nearby area. Over time, it will damage the roots of your nearby teeth.

Dental treatments should be not be ignored, especially wisdom teeth. The wisdom teeth removal price in Australia is affordable. So without any delay, pull your wisdom teeth as soon as possible.

My friend told me that she's experiencing pain while chewing lately, and this is starting to affect her productivity while working. I'm surprised to learn that this is a sign of a wisdom tooth that needs extraction. I'll share this with him so he'd consider visiting a dentist before it gets worse.
